My LX5 Arrived

LX5 is tiny compared to my D3X.

A few test shots below (hand held without flash, judging from the result, the image stabilizing is working). LX5 can shot in 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, and 1:1 formats, which is a feature I especially like. It handles auto white balance very well and images are quite clean even in ISO 400. It has a tripod plate socket so I can use it with my lovely Gitzo.

  1. I am wondering did you consider P7000 before buying LX5? If you considered some other popular prosumer models such as G12, S95, P7000,..., what are the advantages of LX5 over others?

  2. For me, P7000 was never an option since it's bigger, so my choice was between a G12 and LX5. I mostly shot landscape so wide angel is important to me. (LX5 starts from 24mm while G12 starts from 28mm). It can also shoot 16:9, 4:3, 3:2(normal 35mm), and 1:1 formats, which is a useful tool for trying out different compositions.

DP review had also published a good review comparing S95, P7000, and LX5. You can check it out:
